To update anyone who is not aware of what is happening at Herne Hill. A new track surface went in last year. The inner track and lighting around the track (subject to planning permission) part funded by the local council's Olympic Legacy Fund is to be installed over the coming months.

Currently the best source of information on when we might or might not get to ride at the London Velodrome is over on LFGSS forum

This .pdf has some more info on Lee Valley, I 'hope' that once the crazy crush is over there are some sensible leagues put in place for amateurs. It would be a shame if it was just a have a go tourist spot.

I can't tell you anything about sessions yet-don't start work there until Monday.
But from listening to others, you can't use accreditation from other tracks at the London velodrome, although something is being put in place to allow you to in the future.

That's a surprise, and a disappointment if true, as I know that Manchester accreditation allows you to ride at Newport and Glasgow.

Suppose i should get the first moan in then :D

I'm not hugely experienced but in the last 18 months ive riden thousands of miles on the track and been in over a 100 races in Glasgow and Manchester...yet to ride in London id need to go through £90 worth of accreditation? Thats utter crap!

I wouldnt mind so much having to do the last stage of the accreditation process as a test of skills and practice but to have to start from the beginning at the taster level is ridiculous. Particularly when its priced at £30 for that hour compared to £10 or 12 elsewhere.

Things are changing but the website will be updated-worth a phone call though-from what I'm hearing,if you are accredited at Manchester/Glasgow possibly Newport then you won't need to do it again in london-need your paperwork from one of those tracks and it will depend on when you done it.

As far as I can see, you can only book a £30 one-hour 'taster session'. How can you sign up for the full accreditation process (which I think is three or four hours long)?

If accreddited you will not have to do again.
Anyone know if there are bike hooks available to store bikes?

Even if accredited the coaches will possibly want to see you ride for 10 mins or so first.
give them a call as you may have to do a taster session before being allowed to do the 4 stage accreditation, then it will be 4 extra visits to complete.
Had a ride on it yesterday-it's a very nice track.

What do you mean by store bikes? During your ride or be able to leave your track bike there between visits?

Even us staff have nowhere to leave our bikes,I did hear around £500 a year to store track bikes in the future and it will have a limit on the amount you store
