Specialized Allez 18 Replacement due soon...

Postby wesleyjones » Mon May 18, 2009 19:08 pm

HI Everyone
First post from me, i have been lurking for several weeks and i have to say this is a great forum; i am learning all the time!
I am getting a Specialized allez 18 through my Bike4work scheme and i have Chosen Evans; this is from feedback here and their convienence to my work location.
I went in today to commit to the purchase; due to me not having the voucher and evans only accepting a "refund" window of two weeks i could not commit there and then.
Seeing some of the discussions surrounding availability i addressed this to them and they confirmed what there site said - NONE
The young lad kindly called Specialized and he was told that in 4 weeks time the New specialized Allez will be out. No further info yet but they "recommended" i waited for the new version. (im not naive about sales pitches, but it sounds like it is going to be a winner)
Had a look online but couldnt see anything about the 2010 bike.
Does anyone have any news/Pics/thoughts?
Pretty excited about getting into the saddle even more so on a 2010 model!!

My LBS reckons a June/July release of the 2010 models.

You could always have a wee look at the Giant Defies or the Trek 1 series if you don't want to wait.

What makes it sound like it's going to be a winner? I only ask because of the economy and blah blah prices have been going up. For example the 2008 bikes were specced with better kit than the '09 ones, so would be interesting to see what the maty had to say. :)

Stefano, not sure, maybe it will come with pedals & drinks cage as standard or something!

EIther way the typical pattern is a better bike; evolution and all that surely?
new to all this so thoughts are more than welcome!

Given that Spesh put the prices up last year and still managed to sell out in May, I doubt that they are going to be giving away a lot for 2010. Shame, cos I'm after an Allez too.

i was told about 6 weeks ago at my lbs the new allez's are to be seen within 4weeks from now. He reckoned that either their spec and price will increase, or everything will be pretty much the same. Guess we have to wait and see.

Ive been keeping my eyes peeled for any info on the net, but none as of yet.

My local bike shop spoke to specialized last week and they said that the bike coming out in 4 weeks time will be an interim bike and not quite the 2010 bike.

So it sounds like they are bringing this out just to keep the sales going untill the the new 2010 launch.
