I was skeptical on this one before I got a pair (included with a new bike) but the main thing with carbon bars is not the absolute weight but that they are much stiffer than alloy bars of a similar weight. The ultra-light alloy bars tend to be quite "springy." Since that experience I have bought more but I've picked them up in sales or from friends, I wouldn't pay £200 for a pair.

A recent thread on here regarding someone selling carbon bars for £31, for example.

Indeed, I imagine those who are knocking it haven't tried it. I don't have any pains but since buying mine I have not been accosted by any tigers.

Oh sweet Jesus. I must have been hiding somewhere because I wouldn't have believed that these things are real, and that people buy them. And I thought the Facebook login thing last week was impressive...

Every now and then I think to myself that "Hey, I could come up with something really stupid like that". This, after seeing some strange new exercise rubber band thing or something that slices and dices everything, on the TV. My only problem is that when I come up with some whacked out idea I just can't believe that anyone would be stupid enough to buy it. I'm sitting on millions here and can't do anything about it.

Just get Beau Rials to do the selling on TV and you'll make millions. I'm sure he wouldn't charge if you gave him a cut of the profits.

I woke up in the middle of the night with the TV still on and nearly ended up getting a H2O steam mop he convinced me that much.

Carbon bars, particularly if you race, one crash and they're toast. With decent alloy bars which are sometimes lighter at a fraction of the price, I just don't see the point. I sold mine..
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Carbon bars???? Do they come in peanut butter flavor???? Sounds like they would be a lot lighter than carrying about those heavy Clif Bars or Power Bars.

Same goes for lightweight alloy bars in fairness.

True, but they don't cost upwards of 200 quid.

These are 224 dollars for 10 but supposedly they keep your tyre up for a year.
