Help on what bike to buy????

Postby mrpug » Thu Jan 03, 2013 22:33 pm

Hi,
Im looking to buy a l more relaxed road bike ie endurance-focused bike for longer distance/comfort and am looking for good group set and dont mind too much if carbon or Aluminium frame but have budget of about £1200/£1300 like the Bianchi Impulso Veloce in celeste but no very keen on the Campagnolo Veloce gears.
Or would buy good second hand bike but cannot find many sites for them really other than e-bay??
Im about 5'7/5'8 in height.
All help and help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Go to your LBS, sit on a few and see what you like.

Lots of choice out there for this type of bike - Specialized seem a popular choice. I like the look of this: http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CBV ... _road_bike
Also check out Spa Cycles own bikes, eg: http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php ... b0s21p2827 - they have a Ti version too.

Save yourself £200-300 and go for the Giant Defy 1 at RRP £999.

Consistently comes top in most group tests and has mostly 105 drivetrain as standard. With the money you save you could consider swapping the Giant P-R2 wheels for a nice set of handbuilts that would further improve what seems to be an excellent bike.

Can get a Bianchi Via Nirone 7 with Shimano Tiagra gears for under a grand. Bike is a bit more upright, good for cruising. Very comfortable and agile.

you could look in the classifieds on here.

Also have a look at Cannondale Synapse or Giant Defy for comfortable machines.
