Forerunner 410 or 610 as bike computer?

Postby Chris Bass » Tue Jan 08, 2013 16:37 pm

Hi

I was hanging on to see what the new garmins would be like and was suitably underwhelmed by the new refresh so have decided on getting one of the following:

getting my edge 500 fixed
getting a forerunner 410
getting a forerunner 910

i like the wireless sync features on the forerunners which is why i'm thinking of those, i think the 910 might be a bit more than what i'd need but it does have a proper bike mount and is more of a bike related device as its multi sport but the 410 would probably do most of what I want and probably wouldnt be much more than garmin would charge for fixing my old edge!!

does anyone else use a forerunner as a bike computer? any thoughts?

ok ive used on the bike:
edge 305
edge 705
edge 800
forerunner 405cx
forerunner 910xt

The edge is so much better for the bike than the forerunners its not even a competition. When i do multisport events i use my running/tri watch and leave it on my wrist and use the edge on the bars to ride with. the screen is bigger and better so its much easier to read and get the info off.

What happened to your 500? you can get it replaced by garmin for around £100.

I use the 410. It works perfectly well as my cycle computer, set the displays up as you want, easy to see.
I can also use it in the gym too - which is why I went for the forerunner in the first place.
great bit of kit..

my edge has a cracked screen and the power button is on its way out I think, i'm guessing it'll be upwards of £70 for Garmin to fix it!!

are any of the non garmin devices worth looking at?
