Which size handlebars

Postby matt-h » Wed May 22, 2013 17:21 pm

Looking at a 3t ergonaova on offer but they only have the 44cm left.

I'm pretty sure my concept SL are 42.

How much difference will this make to comfort?
I'm not sure what measurements i will need to take to know

It will probably vary person to person, but I definitely notice a difference between using a 44 or 42cm bar. But check where each manufacture measures the bars from, some do centre to centre, others outside, others have drops that are different width to the tops etc.

I went up to 44cm bars with My Rourke, and was using 40 or 42 previously. I'm on'y 5' 9" so not tall. I find the wider bar gives my chest a little more space to breath, other than that no big difference.

I think Ergonovas come up a size smaller at the hood width compared to a regular bar thats measured centre to centre.

So you should be ok, in fact if Im right the 44's will be what you want.

Wait for someone to verify that though ok (as I could be wrong, Ive dug it out of my mind from somewhere)

Width of bars is terribly important, get your LBS to measure you with a set of Calipers, or alternatively get a set of bars and get a mate to slide them over your shoulders at the rear, then should fit firm but not loose or painfully tight. I was shown this years ago and it works perfect to judge your size.
