Tentatively starting to use Strava...

Postby rodgers73 » Mon Oct 01, 2012 19:32 pm

I'm going to ride my commute tomorrow with the Garmin on.

What do I need to do to upload the results to Strava?

Do I just set the timer running when I set off and stop it when I get there or do I save it somewhere or something?

How do I upload it once I'm hooked up to the website??

(I'm using the Edge 705)

You're in the same boat as me! Just connect your Garmin and upload when you're on Strava (there's a button) and hey presto there's your ride.

you need to reset your profile to something resembling yourself and Strava automatically detects other people who've ridden your routes or parts of and compares times and climbs etc.

It is really good fun especially when you start following folk or they follow you !

Best of luck

if you dont want people like pinarello001 to find out where you live and bombard you with haggis then have a look at your privacy settings - it lets you create an 'exclusion zone' of up to a kilometre around your house so nefarious dudes can't get their hands on your luvverly bike.

Got you - so I've got to hit the start button when I set off (and then stop!) and that's it?

No messing about on the Garmin's settings etc??

Ride as normal with Garmin running, save ride when finished. Get home and upload to Strava and see how slow you are then do the same again next time your out and try harder only to see that you're still slow.

It's a slippery slope
