Scratched your Fork Legs?

Postby nicklouse » Sat Sep 08, 2007 20:33 pm

Minor scratches can be sorted with a hard enamel paint or nail varnish.

i am going to cover how to on two forks that have some minor damage. Sorry about one of the pics. I did not look at it until I had already started

First the damage.

First make sure that there are no raised parts that could damage the seals/bushes.
if there are remove them with some wet and dry paper. Now clean the leg. I sugest some paint thinners.
Then apply the "paint"

Now leave to dry. As long as it takes.

Now that it is dry you can rub it down with some 1200 grit wet and dry paper. Use it wet.

as you can see there are some areas that the paint is missing on.
So reapply and repeat.

finish pics later. Paint drying

finished for one fork. As you can see the paint has taken the shape of the damage and that is what you are aiming for.

this one needs another coat.

Ok finished the above one of this morning and the was abused for about 3 hours at the local uplift.

and works fine.
