Missing suspension bolt

Postby fletch8928 » Wed Aug 25, 2010 20:56 pm

Whats the name of this bolt thingy from a suspension link? Closest I have got is barrel nut. The bike shop is clueless.
I Have had the other one vanish on a ride. Lucky I give the bike a once over before or after a ride.

I could have scrubbed it but didn't.

Cube AMS comp 100. You can see where the chuffing thing fell out of. Baffled as to how it came loose and then worked itself out.

I really don't fancy paying over a £100 for the whole bag of bearings and nut n bolts that Cube are quoting. Just for that one part.

You would have thought so. Also the force needed to extract the one I have has left me scratching my head as to how the chuff it worked out.

If I get no joy I shall ask the very competant shift fitter at graft to see if he can machine one for me.

The Northern Monkey I saw that thread and others on the net about the stupid after sales service from Cube.

Its a shame the shop I bought from doesn't sell lots of AMS' (or even have one) or I would be insisting they take one from a display model.

They are probably made to order for Cube and you won't find them 'on the shelf' so to speak.

Try asking if the shop can get one from Cube ("for a repair").

I am beginning to think that myself. it hasn't helped that the rep is on holiday until the 1st of sept either.

Probably going to have fork out a few quid, the upside would be I will have spares at the plenty.

Hello,

I have the same problem as this on my AMS 110 pro, I seem to have sheared one.

Did anyone find how to replace it without having to buy a whole spares kit for £50 with a 4 week lead time?

Many thanks

Anthony

TBH any bolt will do.

aslong as no threads are being pivoted on. a hacksaw will be needed.

or have a machine shop make something up.

a steel tube and a bolt through it.

Why should they do that? It's not their fault. Do you really check that every single nut and bolt on your frame is tight before riding, including pivot bolts? You should, really. I don't, but then I'm not going to blame anyone but myself when my pivot bolts fall out mid-ride (this has happened before).
Anyway, give BETD a phone call, they can machine you a new one if necessary.

I'm sure he has sorted it out in the last two years.

Did you guys have any luck with a new bolt? Seems almost impossible to find a single bolt or even a pair!
