Easier Gear? 39-28 or 34-25

which of these combinations is actually easier - 39-28 or a 34-25?

Pretty much exactly the same, but 34/25 slightly easier.

More importantly the 39/28 will wear your chain less

Just divide...

39/28 = 1.39

34/25 = 1.36

So 34/25 is just over 2% easier. For comparison, the gears on a normal casette are around 10% apart.
