Carrea vulcan fork replcement

Postby richie wake » Sat Oct 06, 2012 18:16 pm

Hi my vulcan is about 4 months old been doing some decent stuff in the fod. But now fork seals have gone and also the fluid?
I have a budget of about £200 but dont want to pay out more than is needed. So any recommendations would be great thanks.

On the other hand is the whole bike just not up to it and plow some money into another bike?

Is a good bike, but the budget fork was always going to be the first thing to go. If under warranty I'd get it sorted, but if wanting something better take a look at the Rockshox Recon series of forks.

Thanks for the quick response, yes would still be under warranty but knowing halfords id have a mega battle with them claiming its not meant to be used off road :x and then if i won they would just replace it with the cheap suntour

Halfords are actually very good on warranties, so obviously you don't know them.
But yes, they would replace with like.

When my front wheel snapped at the joint I got to know them very well and all they kept saying was i must have impacted it and the bike manager in the store was trying to tell me as soon as you take it offroad your not coverd by the warranty which i know is total bs. Its obvious different branches have different standards

Yep same bike had to fight the hard and they agreed to fit new wheel at cost 15 pound. they did replace the complete front brake when that failed in second week

I remember you posting about this.

Either way, try and get a replacement - you can always sell it. It will be covered assuming you have kept it clean and serviced.

No fluid in the fork to start with though, so don't tell them it leaked!

The vulcan fork has a hydraulic damper, though unlikely it has leaked.

SS, sorry, yes should have been clear, it's a cartridge damper, so the seals will have no effect.
