Water repelant for jacket?

Postby Bluedoggy » Sat Oct 06, 2012 14:59 pm

I have a windstopper jacket that repels water. Is there a spray or chemical that you can buy to help repel water?

I've just used http://www.grangers.co.uk/product.cfm?cat=14&productid=4 on a Gortex walking jacket and it worked very well. The only issue was that I had to tumble dry the dry jacket on high, contrary to it's washing instructions, to get it hot enough for the stuff to work. My jacket's survived intact but I'm not sure if a lighter garment would.

Thanks for the link.
I'm not sure I want to put my £239 windstopper
In a tumble dryer on high! I'd be scarred it would shrink!
Shame it has to be tumbled:(

Generally use Nikwax tech wash then wash again with wash in proofer, think Grangers also do a spray too that does not need tumble drying

I use the Nikwax spray on my soft shell wind stopper jackets, it's really good stuff. The wash in stuff is great, but if you don't want to wash / tumble dry, then it's worth a try. Have a look at the link posted earlier, as their wash in stuff works on a cool wash on wind stopper garments.
