Yep took the whole drive train off cleaned checked and refitted there's still a few mm of wobble but no where near so much.

Seems the chain line crossover is fairly extreme in the high to low so they'll always be some rubbing

Picked up my wheels from the LBS after getting them re-trued so gave the winter sofa a spruce up. Complete strip down, clean and re-grease. New bar tape and reflective tape put on. Tried and failed (again) to fit the rear crudracer, there's just no clearance at all. So, I've gone the frankenguard way, I've installed the seat tube part of the crud and brought the raceblade in closer to the tyre and caliper. I'm not 100% happy with the look but it's the best I'm going to get.

First fit for 66major. BB and cranks mounted, saddle height sorted and stem/bar combo examined. I realised I has a 31.8 stem and 26 bars, so a ton o' shim for sizing and a new stem on order.

Also had to get a crown race off an old fork and mount it on a new fork. With a hammer. And a screwdriver. Not ideal.
Swim. Bike. Run. Yup, that's definitely what I'm supposed to be doing.

New chain on the Equilibrium...there's something awful and "worthy" about fitting a new chain. Anyway old one was a third of a link longer and a whole lot filthier than when it was born, so i guess it needed doing.

Will 'major' be riding the Cervelo?

Completely failed to fit a rack over the mudguards on the Pompino. Nothing to show for my efforts beyond dirty hands. Two locks, laptop, suit and shoes in the back pack tomorrow it is then :(

:)

Realised that I was trying to fit a 26" rack on a 700c wheel. Would have worked too, if it wasn't for those pesky 'guards. (Cue Scooby Doo music...)

Given where (I think) you work I was hoping for something more along the lines of fitting a JATO rocket.

Huzzah!

I managed to actually get a BB5 front disc brake working properly! In your face LBS. :D

'cos I tried and failed to get the brakes working right the first time, I admitted defeat and took the Felt to the LBS (Wiggle have paid for this btw) and they 'fixed' them. Did they ****...

The ride in was bad enough but the ride home was a nightmare, the amount of noise being generated and the drag on the brakes was just 'orrible.

So I got in last night and put the bike on the stand and had a proper go.

I found the "business card down the outside and screw the inner pad in all the way" method worked best. Just took a little bit of tweaking with the cable and bob's yer Mother's brother.

Somehow I've managed to get the pads so close that there's barely any movement on the lever and the bikes comes to a serious halt. There was a tiny amount of noise when I set off but that's gone now and I am a happy bunny.

I did try this before but I had the bike upside down in the kitchen and I reckon this caused the brake mounts to hang slightly poorly when tightening them up. Another good reason to get a bike stand

Is it you working on the Thrust SSC? In which case I should expect rather more than a JATO. I'd love to work on something like that, even if I have virtually no appropriate skills beyond tea making.

Now I have swapped to spd's for the bad weather I found my cleats were way too far forward compared to the setup on my spd sl's so I moved them back to match, have used them for a week or so in that position and today my calves are moaning a bit but I felt I had more power back.

I tightened up both brakes too as some how they had loosened off and developed a drag against the rim habit

Indexed the winter bikes gears, changed the brake pads to the bad weather ones, put the light mounts on and now to order some new tyres for her.

Popped some 4 Seasons onto the Defy. Gave it a good clean while I was at it. Re-greased the pedals. Cleaned and re-lubed the chain. Nothing exotic, but a really enjoyable hour or two.

Changed the rear brakes outer cable, old one was dragging despite new cable. Nice and smooth now.
