Garmin Edge 800 cadence sensor / magnet problem ?

Postby JoseHernandez » Sun Oct 07, 2012 22:10 pm

Does the magnet for the Edge 800 have to be facing in one particular direction relative to the cadence sensor ?
I have it set so the magnets shiny silver surface faces directly towards the cadence sensor but my comp seems to be having problems picking it up.

The long shinny side of the magnet on your crank, should line up with the indented plastic line on the sensor (which is on your chain stay). Good luck!

The magnet positioning aside, what I noticed while fitting a unit to my second bike is that you need to make sure you have the profile for the second bike selected in the menu. I initially thought the batteries had failed etc until the realisation of wrong profile selection dawned.

Also ensure you turn the pedals / wheel a little so it moves past both sensors as few times when trying to pair them to the garmin in ant+

I struggled for ages to pair my sensors until someone gave me this tip.
