Tour of Beijing **Spoilers**

Postby frenchfighter » Mon Oct 08, 2012 12:16 pm

Andy Schleck is racing and keen to put in a performance. He also says he will be training hard in the winter and expects to put in good performances from the earliest races (completely new for him).

Tony Martin is last years winner but it looks tricky for him this year although he said he will try.

Japan team withdrawn for political reasons.

Phinney hunting stage wins.

Frenchie, how can anyone be so excited by the Tour of Beijing that they start the spoiler thread a day early?

the air's looking good in the background of that pic... :(

cue the riders tweeting about the air...starting with Taylor Phinney#s tweet showing the air quality in Beijing as 'Hazardous' as per the 'Beijing air quality index'

How would you 'spoil' the Tour of Beijing ?

I went to China a couple of years ago, arrived in Chongqing early evening.
Up to room, sun was setting and blinding golden light flooding in so closed the curtains.
Opened them in the morning and saw a tower block opposite, which hadn't seen night before.
Out for day, came back in evening, couldn't see the tower block opposite through the window.
It was an ordinary street, perhaps 4 lanes wide, pollution built-up during the day such that you couldn't see a building across it...

Might play havoc with their doping programmes then ...

That's just the Chinese messing with your head. They build a tower block while your asleep and then knock it down again when you're not looking. They do it to lots of foreigners. They think it's hilarious.

If you were using a method to carry more oxygen in your blood and competed in China I wonder if it would even out and you would pass the tests?

is a shame it is held inside Beijing city ..if they go a bit further out, air quality is good. Some sections near the Great wall have good visibility without much pollution. It's good that pro bike racing goes to China though....if Chinese brands want to sponsor teams, it will be seen to have been a worthwhile effort. Maybe it is better to try to attract Chinese sponsors than keep at some of the financially struggling European companies whose budgets appear not to stretch to a supporting World Tour pro cycling teams. Think JV struggling to get backers for Garmin shows how tight it has been

Even by his usual photogenic standards, he looks a bit of a gimp in that photo.....

Fenn is notable...good ride by him. I was most interested in the opening ceremony's female dance troupe, some traffic stoppers there ....nice change from Euro birds

Tony is looking at that wondering if it is one of those cheap Chinese carbon copies.

Tony's neck is way too small for his head - his body has obviously diverted all extraneous muscle to his legs
