Cervelo R3, Madone 5.2 or Roubaix

Postby kikonameko » Sat Oct 06, 2012 12:24 pm

Hi guys,

i was originally going to get a Roubaix as i was lusting over it for a year now. Now, another LBS just offered me a good deal on a 2012 cervelo R3. I was thinking of getting a Madone 5.2 frame and build a proper bike with it. Now to be honest i have only test drove a Madone and it wasnt even the right size. (Im from Shanghai and they dont really have all the bikes in the store. You have to order them first, LBS here dont keep inventories)

In any case the roubaix is proving to be the most expensive (Specialized in China is over priced) The madone amazingly is 10% more expensive than the Cervelo (which is in other countries is suppose to be the pricier option.

So what do you guys think? Is the R3 better than the roubaix and madone?

*btw, i know that its best practice to ride the bike but im pretty sure that i need to at least be 70% sure on one of these bikes before i order it. If by chance it fits horribly then i guess i will be pissing off the LBS... but thats ok :)

Thanks
Francis

I've ridden all three, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the R3 above the Roubaix and the Madone.

Assuming fit is correct then for me the best buy is the R3.

I have a R3 and a Roubaix and the R3 is in my view the quite simply an amazing piece of kit.

See if you can get hold of a Trigon RQC-29

As good as any carbon frame and a lot cheaper...

As a previous R3 owner I'd say get the R3.

R3, can't afford one but want one. Test ridden it against the other two and a De Rosa, and the R3 is the shizzle for rough uk roads.

Thanks for all the replies.. I am leaning towards the R3 as well.. Im just waiting for some last minute price quotations from various LBS. Its funny how things change.. a few weeks ago i swear my next bike would be a specialized... :)
