How much chain oil?

Postby ben@31 » Tue Oct 09, 2012 23:08 pm

When servicing a bike how much oil would you apply? Is it a case of less is more. Last time I oiled my chain, it was so covered in the stuff my chain turned into a magnet for sand, grit and grime, eventually turning black.

Thanks.

less is more fella.. i keep rubbing my old oil off with a rag after each ride,
then every 3 rides i put oil on a rag and run the chain through the rag to re apply the oil.
seems to keep my drive chain in good nick!!!!

Also try together it on the moving parts not the plates - so drip it on the rollers, turn the cranks a few times (slowly to reduce oil spray) let it sit for while and then wipe off excess. Hopefully leaves plates dry and rollers etc lubed.
