sram shifter compatibility

Postby bigad28 » Sun Oct 14, 2012 16:47 pm

Hi my 9 speed Sram x7 medium cage has just failed on my 2011 pitch. It has x5 shifters What higher level mechs are compatible with the x5 shifters?

Or any Road one (which are named - e.g. Force) the wide range road ones will also cope with most MTB cassettes

Road ones are 10 speed, and not compatible with 9 speed MTB shifters. They are compatible with 10 speed MTB stuff though.

I was told on the Roadie forum that 10 speed SRAM road is compatable with 9 speed (like Shimano) and it is only 10 speed MTB that is not 9 compatable (again like Shimano).

Who gives a crap anyway. It is very unlikely the op will be doing so. You've just added a superfluous bit of info just for the sake of adding.
