Have you ever been snot on?

Postby TakeTurns » Mon Oct 29, 2012 21:10 pm

During my first crit race (Cat3/4) not too long ago, the guy in front thought it would be a good idea to splatter the peloton with his snot :|

Yes, it happens quite often. When I say 'quite often', at least once per season. Which is more than enough. People just don't seem to realise what they're doing, or if they do, they don't give a shoot about other people.

Just one of those things you have to accept, like crashes, tractors, getting dropped, horses, and having your legs torn off.

Or you could start an education campaign - 'How To Expel Mucous Without Splattering Other People'.

I'd sign up. Now that it's turned colder, I'm sick of sniffing. Don't even think of telling me to use a hanky. I already have to stop to take a drink.

Yeah...got some in the face this year. Gave the guy hell..easy to sit in a race without any going behind you.

It's not racing without snotrockets.

Personally I'm lucky enough to have a nose that works. I know plenty of people who don't seem to be able to ride in the cold though without clearing their nose every 10 miles. It's grim but you'll live (oh and wear glasses when you race!).

It happens and I wouldn't get too upset, but if you blow snot on someone, you can't really argue if they call you a c**t.

You know what snot is for, don't you? Basically, removal of microbes. Such as bacteria and viruses.

Now, you know how training and racing puts stress on the body? Sometimes lowering the effectiveness of the immune system a bit?

So what do you think might happen if you get a faceful of someone else's microbe-ridden mucous while you're breathing more deeply than usual?

Or you could learn how to spit without doing it on someone else? It's not hard...spit in between your bar, arm and leg...it goes right into the floor before your back wheel passes...simples.

Usally do, sometimes you miss though, long as somebody isnt delibratly gobbing on me I dont really get that upset, I'd be more bothered if he put a wheel across me.

I've been snotted on, spat on, pissed on, had liquid farm slurry in my face, horse dung etc etc - that's racing - especially in Belgium.

Look up Belgian toothpaste!
