Hi all, went for a ride today, and ten yards from my house the chain snapped, it is the original chain and has done about 2000 miles. It. Broke on what I would call the quick link , basically two halves go together and lock shut under tension. Now as it happened I had a spare one and repaired it, my question is do I forget about it or buy a new chain, and if I need a chain are there differnet sorts, I have a campag groupset .

If it was just the quick link which broke I would forget about it. Fit a new one and make sure it's on correctly. If your chain is otherwise in decent condition (which it should be with only 2k on it) then you shouldn't have any issues.
I'm left handed, if that matters.
Agree with the others. Just fit the new link and enjoy your ride. I've never had a KMC QL fail even after using the same link on different chains. I think I used one for over 10k miles before the pins started to show grooves in them and then replaced it. Possibly yours wasn't fitted properley, did the metal actually snap?

Spookily, that's exactly my experience too. I've broken two KMC chains, but never a Campag one.
Campag chains are very good value, like for like, about the same price as KMC. I buy Campag now, but use a KMC 'Missing Link'.
