Cannondale Supersix HI-MOD

Postby cw42 » Mon Nov 05, 2012 11:56 am

Not much to say about this really, other than it came at a real low time in my life, and has cheered me up no end.

Frame is a supersix hi-mod, wheels are shimano rs10's, groupset is ultegra with an fsa slk chainset.
Obviously the wheels are the weak point, but they're soon to get upgraded as funds allow. Weight is just over 16lbs, so to get it superlight wouldn't really take much. It'll be my first ride on it today, I'm nervous, not least because I've still got holes from my recent Laparoscopy :)

Very nice. I hope you enjoy your first ride on it. If the weather's anything like it is here, you've picked a perfect day for it. It never ceases to amaze me how even the worst of troubles can be put aside on a good bike ride. Good luck with your recovery.

It was indeed a gorgeous afternoon for a little bike ride :) Glad I went out now. The bike is bloomin' lovely. Feels very similar to my previous six, but the lack of weight can really be felt, even on the flat.
Made me forget most of my troubles today, and that's what it's all about

Chris,

You have my full sympathy. I had an operation on Saturday to repair a slipped disc in my lower back. I've been off my feet since the start of October and have lost a stone in weight - not tummy fat, just leg muscle! I can only just manage to walk up and down the stairs at the moment. But to make matters worse, I have bought a new Van Nicholas Chinook. I ordered the bike 13 weeks ago and it is now ready for me to collect - but I can't get to the shop to pick it up due to my injury. Frustrated? You bet.

Good luck with your wounds and enjoy the new bike!!!

That is frustrating! As each day passes I'm able to do more and recover quicker. I'll be back in the hills by the end of next week. Good luck with your recovery.

Hi mate. I totally empathise with you and continuing to be positive is the key. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May 2009, and whilst it was a struggle (tainted with the odd bit of black humour - trust me, being told you've got cancer then being ushered in to a little room to knock one off into a beaker to 10 year old copies of Mayfair is, in hindsight, hilarious) but I never, ever allowed myself to think about anything other than being better. Three and a half years later I'm still here and have convinced myself that having a bollock removed has made me significantly faster going up hill (although, interestingly, can't seem to get comfortable on a saddle any more - must be out of balance). The bike's great, by the way. Make sure you have a long and happy relationship with it.
