It's a bit of a heavy beast but I'm really enjoying my commute on it.

51x17

Might up it to 16 when I fancy some MTFU but can still hill climb on the 17.

21-23mph is the sweet spot, top out around 26-28.

Don't get the fixie knee thing, is it something the skid kiddies suffer from? I'm not cool enough for that

Saying that my arms, wrists and hands have taken a beating from the track geometry but I f***king love it

Do you like the stronglight crankset ipete? I'm tempted to get one as they look pretty nice...

It's a SRAM crankset with Stronlight ring, no complaints.

Ok Ok, I admit, yes I am proud and I am showing off a bit but this is my dream bike and I got an excellent deal on it.

It only has about 1000 miles on it, the previous owner had an accident a year ago (on another bike) and broke his hip so hasn't used it for a year, he had all the original receipts which totaled GBP 6500.00 and he took very good care of it, it is in immaculate condition, I managed to get it for just GBP 2000.00.

The Zipps I sold for GBP 800.00 and bought the Fulcrums for just GBP 450.00, so in reality (not including all the other bits and pieces I bought) it only cost me GBP 1550.00 and I still have my 2009 Giant TCR Advanced 3, which once I clean it up I hope to sell for between GBP 500-700.00, that means I only really paid GBP 1000.00.

I am not rich and there is no way I could have been able to afford such a high level of bike had I had to pay retail.

So yes, I AM showing off but can you blame me?

My new commuter/work horse, a 2012 Jamis Aurora Elite:

Image

Swapped out the saddle for a San Marco Regal (my fave), the bars for Ritchey Classic (the standard bars were to wide and an odd shape), the rack for a Tortec one (the stock rack was very wide and I had this one already) and the guards for SKS P45 Longboards (the standard guards were shockingly bad). Tyres will soon be swapped for Marathon Supremes as I've lost confidence in these tyres in damp conditions.

Very pleased with it. It's heavy but it carries its weight well.

My new commuter, since the Dawes was killed this summer.

Already had a knock but back on the road and ready for the dark now.

Ooh, I like that. I'd be sticking some mudguards on (if possible) for winter though.

Yeah I will be. Just finished it last night and no rain forecast today, so left it nekkid for now.
