A classic frame off eBay, something like a C40/C50, fit a new Athena group and some nice handbuilt wheels. Velocity on record hubs for example.

A C50 President just went on eBay for 1400 in my size, it was immaculate too!

Same, although I was also able to add a winter bike for the price ;)

When I kill this Foil I will buy another, such is the wonderfullness of this frame.

£2.5k - if it was for training/riding rather than racing, I'd go for the Pinarello Rokh built with 105 for that price.
