Boardman ProCarbon Vs AiR/9.0

Postby owenjones » Mon Nov 19, 2012 14:09 pm

Am I missing something?
From what I can tell, the only difference between the Boardman ProCarbon and AiR/9.0 is the stem and handlebars (and paint job), but the AiR is £400 more expensive?!?!

AiR/9.0 : http://www.boardmanbikes.com/road/air90.html

There must be another difference to justify the price difference...surely?!

Difference is the carbon by the looks of it, "UD carbon" opposed to normal carbon?

Uni directional or something?

Lets be honest, its worth £400 extra so you don't get that awful colour!

The CarbonPro is also unidirectional carbon...just doesn't say it in that description. Pretty sure the frame is identical.

I kinda agree that the red is nicer colour...but £400?!?! Can get the whole thing re-sprayed a nice hot pink for less ;)

It's a different lay up. The 9.0 AiR is the same frame as the 9.8 I believe. According to a local dealer anyway.

Refers to the way that the bits of carbon are put into the mould - techy stuff that probably does not help you (or me) to work out which is best.
Yellow is the new Black.

I suppose you are paying the extra £400 for the fitting and service from the dealer rather than going to Halfords. I can't see much else that is different.
