Winter Jacket for xxxl man

Postby 1964johnr » Mon Nov 19, 2012 11:25 am

Anyone know anywhere I can buy a winter jacket. I have tried on countless xxl sizes in shops which are far to small. Also having problems finding overshoes for size 49 mountain bike shoes.

You could try Craft kit. Sizing is pretty generous IME. Caveat - their Elite range is 'race fit' so does come up a little smaller than their other stuff.

Always riding have a good range of Craft kit and their sizing charts are very useful, e.g:

(you didn't mention budget)

go to prendas and look at the larger size santini jackets. I had one and it was fantastic. I had 3xl in the jacket and that was about 50 inch chest. A jersey 3xl in santini will be way smaller like a 44 inch chest but the jackets are bigger. Moa Nalini do some larger stuff too if you hunt round for size 6-7 or even 8 I have seen they will big enough.

+1 for Prendas. Send them your dimensions and what they recommend will fit.

+2 for Prendas. I have a 50in chest and regularly find tops there. Andy was very helpful in confirming if some bib shorts would fit and following his recommendation they fitted perfectly.

I have an Altura Night Vision EVO which had plenty of room for me when I was 18.5 stone. Now I am 13.5 stone it is for sale, having been worn maybe twice (let me know if interested). Or you could find a new one online. They are really very roomy.

I couldnt get anything from Gore to fit - I couldnt even get my arms in the XXL Gore Phantom, literally! One of the most satisfying things when I lost weight was being able to buy a gore phantom, but then I found that I sweat whenever I wear it...!

Gore phantom is worth a try as they have an elasticated back panel. Thus size large 40 inch chest fits my 46 chest without being too long. Thus the xl or Xxl might fit 50 inch or more

Well just had a email from Andy at Prendas who confirmed that the Santini Jackets will NOT fit a 50 inch chest .

I am around 46 to 48 inch chest and 6ft tall. I was a bit bigger.
I have 3 different jackets. One is a Spin 11 winter jacket in 3XL I think. Spin 11 are an Irish team gear manufacturer but I found the jacket in my LBS and it's very warm and a great fit.
I also have a Gist windproof jacket. It's big and stretches well but the arms flutter in the breeze a bit. It's a good piece of kit.
I also have a Planet X rain jacket in a stretchy rubbery fabric. It's XXL and is a great fit. It's fairly waterproof and windproof and only cost €25.

i have the craft waterproof over shoes and use them with my shimano mtb shoes, really good piece of kit. They are tricky to get on but once on they are pretty snug and waterproof.
