I much prefer real - we try to buy the strongest smelling one we can find!

Good to know about the water trick - might try that out.

I thought it was gonna be another link to the Road Bike Party video.....

I don't tend to grope the tree much so fake is fine. As with DDD we started with a fake when the kids were born, we've just stuck with it. Once it's covered in bling you can hardly tell.

None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Interesting. So you'd rather have a little droopy real tree than a magnificant large and shapely fake tree?

if you are in the slightest bit ecofriendly you really have to get a real one, fake trees are really not good for the environment

Treat'em as you would cut flowers - plenty of water and keep the heating down, at least next to the tree. You can get bases a bit like a sort of jumbo dog bowl, which work really well.

I have one of these - but now have a fake tree :)

We have something like this - not a lot of use now I use a fake tree.

My main problem with fakes is the scaring you get when you look underneath them from where they insert the branches (look fine from on top though) Also I find some of the cheaper ones can look a little square.
