Anyone know a good place to stay overnight nearby? I'll be coming up the M6 from the south

There is a holiday Inn about 1.5 miles away, I think it is the Central Park Holiday Inn.

Otherwise Manchester is a very small city and it is fairly easy to public transport/walk from central hotels or if you have your bike you can cycle.

We normally stay in Manchester or Wilmslow and make our way to the venue by car or walk/PT depending on the event and whether MCFC is playing at home at the time.... if they are the traffic is bad around the velodrome.

Better off with Premier Inns etc just outside Manchester. There is a budget place on Hyde Road, not far, but the area is sh1te !

There is a Premier Inn at Denton at the A57/M60/M67 junction - J24 I think. That's not bad, out of town with a pub next door, and a Sainsburys round the corner - 10 minutes from the Velodrome down Hyde Road/A57.

Would back up Fossyant re the hotel on Hyde Road - we had three staff cars broken into in one night, a few years back.

MacDonald Hotel near Piccadilly station is good - decent parking and the right side of town for heading to the Velodrome, either by car (maybe five mins?) or walking (around 20 - 25 mins).

Holiday in is fine, I've stayed there whenever I've been to watch the cycling or go on the track.
Within walking distance, and heed the advice about when Man City are playing, it gets very busy.

You off to ride or watch?
Just booked tickets for Madison champs and Revolution in January so I'll probably be staying there again.

Thanks all for the suggestions and local tips. I've checked Man City's fixtures and they're playing away on the day

The Midland; aside from the Hilton, it's the only place to stay in Manc.

Lol  Not as much as the suspected escort entertaining in the room next door. I'd rather sleep in Piccadilly bus station than in that place again...
