XC gym stuff eh?

I am currently in the process of getting super-fast for the ever approaching xc season. What sort of gym work will help me get quick. One thing I am struggling with at the moment is sustaining hard effort for long periods of time.

Just ride.

XC season? Isn't that 365days of the year?

Ride your bike, that'll get you quick... ride it harder for longer distances to build up stamina.

Gym work won't get you fit. Good core stability and what not will help, but to get quick ride your bike.
