Anyone made their own turbo training videos?

Postby Rob13 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 00:28 am

Just curious if anyone has done this. I know someone who has a gopro with a handlebar mount so I was wondering if anyone else had had a bash at making their own Turbo video of a run, with maybe music over the top a la Sufferfest style?

I cant see why you couldn't replicate a regular ride by watching the video and applying the necessary effort required when coming to each section. Could be interesting with the new GoPro Hero 3 as the quality really is very good!

Too boring??

Made 2 of my own with clips of various races and instructions coming up on the screen with music to suit. Saves me money from buying sufferfest and I get it tailor made to what i want. Doesn't take that long to do and isn't really that hard to do.

I just get some pro footage from a certain Dutch site, have some music of my choosing on alongside it, and then do whatever workout I want to do.

Not done it myself but I was thinking of getting a GoPro to record all my races next year, so I have a selection of vids to use on the turbo.

I think having a camera on would provide extra motivation to win!

Yeah Someone on here wrote that a commissaire stopped him from using his during a race.

I don't think they are specifically banned, but there is a rule somewhere (also read on here in a thread about racing with mudguards) that you're not allowed to have unnecessary attachments on your bike.

I've been racing two years; I really should have read the rules first...

Robbie McEwen is allowed to do it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2e3Kyw4z30
And in the above video you see Liquigas rider with GoPro mounted under his seat. Footage here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCyIkEE9_VA

At around $10 a video, life is too short to try and recreate a Sufferfest IMHO...

Download you tube vids of the tours using realplayer downloader and open the vids, mute the vid volume, then open another application for example vlc or I tunes, set up a playlist of dance/techno, play that, miniaturise and then reopen the tour videos, youl end up with a cycling video accompanied by your best and favourite training music and no video or music editing required, once the vids and music are downloaded, it only takes 30 seconds to set up.
