So Bike Radar’s ‘exclusive’ on the Edge 900 was wrong! It could be an elaborate hoax but I doubt it.

Really interested in the Edge 510.

NB – I see that link has now been disabled, but for those that missed it slowtwitch.com grabbed a screenshot:

I am hoping 'social network' references mean that it will pick up live strava segment timings, or even segment installed

I'm quite relieved. At first glance there doesn't seem to be a huge upgrade benefit from the 800 to the 810, save for some added connectivity. I hope not, I don't need a reason to spend more cash!

The 810 will also have a camera built in.

If they added a telephone to the 810...it would be all a cyclist would ever need!

They're not going to add a telephone, seems to me that their plan is to harness the functionality of your smartphone (possibly via bluetooth). No point doing that if they build a telephone into the Edge.

I appreciate that, all I meant was.....if it had a phone.....I personally would not need a smartphone as well......I would happily trade the chance to instantly connect to facebook/twitter for routes, cadence & hrm. :)

Just checked up the differences between the new and current models.....not all that impressed.

I'm sure that the live tracking would be a novelty that would wear off pretty soon. I'll wait to see if Wiggle et al do anything on the RRP, going by what used 800's go for, it would cost me about £170 for the new model.

Same screen resolution and size! When I show my 800 to friends who dont cycle they laugh when they see the screen. They say it reminds them of a nokia 8310.

Live tracking is meh. Wireless is pointles as most people still need to plug in to charge the thing and virtual partner is available on the 800. I image it's no more user friendly either.

I though the updated iphone 5 was a joke, but this is shocking. Garmin are so lazy.

I was just about to post exactly the same thing!

And hopefully by the time the 900 is out there'll be some real competition.

This. Garmin pretty much dominate this market at the moment, but it's not gonna take much for someone to take away a lot of their business.
