Songs that help you with that push up a big hill ?

Postby Raffles » Fri Jan 04, 2013 18:33 pm

I take my Creative Zen vision M mp3 player out on rides sometimes and Im going to make a compilation of adrenaline fuelled tracks that listening to might increase my drive when cresting tougher hills. So far I have saved to my Mp3 player:

Youth gone wild by Skid Row
Chinatown by Thin Lizzy
Fight for your right (to party) by The Beastie Boys
Get the funk out by Extreme
Middle man by Living Color
Magic Johnson by Red Hot Chilli Peppers
The Killers by Motorhead
Freewheel Burning by Judas Priest

its pretty obvious that Im a rocker  , but can you suggest other tracks that make your heartrate increase and could be good training aids ?

no dreary ballads , x factor or cr@p like that please :)

If the blood pumping in your ears isn't fast enough to get you going then you're not pedaling hard enough

I don't listen to music when I cycle, strikes me as incredibly dangerous. That said, G'n'R Appetite for Destruction always seems to get me going in times of need, makes me drive like a tit too!

Running up that hill - Kate Bush

But why would anyone listen to music and cycle? defeats the object as well as potentially dangerous

Appetite is played out and sweet child o mine is a song i never ever ever wish to hear again as I played it on guitar in a band and am sick to death of it.

I don't listen to music while riding but I do seem to have a random jukebox in my head that throws up all sorts of tunes.I sometimes join in by singing out loud(I have a quick check round to make sure no one else is listening).
When I'm struggling,Basement Jaxx-Where's Your Head At? often pops up.
The lyrics-"Don't let the walls cave in on you" make me dig deeper..

You won't thank me for this - go on then... but Nelly The Elephant works for me. It's got the right tempo, even though it does stick in your head a bit too long. See? :)

I never listen to music when I am out on the bike, but I do when I am on the turbo. My favourite rock tunes are The Who (Who's Next or Quadrophenia) or Meat Loaf (Bat out of Hell).

I do agree that listening to music such as this helps you push hard, but I do question the wisdom of listening whilst out on the road.

I don't listen to an MP3 player when riding (used to sometimes but it was just one extra thing to think about) one song that often pops into my head though, especially going up a hard hill, is Damn Dog by Manic Street Preachers. Also a lot of stuff by the band Thrice.
