Aaaaggghhh - Crud Racers on a Boardman

Postby jonbob78 » Mon Jan 07, 2013 20:42 pm

I've just spent the past couple of hours trying to fit some crud racers to my Boardman Pro Carbon

I first tried with my upgraded Mavic wheels and Conti GT 700x24 but couldn't for the life of me get them to fit without catching.

I then put my old wheels back on with Vittoria 700x23 tyres which may have made some difference on the rear wheel which now runs smooth but still struggling like hell to get the from wheel running without catching!

Any one managed to fit Crud Racers to a Boardman successfully?
Any pearls of wisdom?

Failing that should I go out and get a Triban 3 for £300 an not worry about having such a pristine bike for so much of the time? N.B. this may lead to divorce!

The lack of clearance between the tyres and brakes (especially the front) were the problem for me on my Boardman Team when trying to fit some Crud guards. I swapped the original brakeset for some Sram Apex brakes which gave much more clearance.

They fit my Team nicely - the Pro on the other hand, no chance.
