I think this is subjective. None of us look "cool" wearing a bike helmet, but some may be cooler than others. I have tried quite a few over time and Rudy and Kask seem to suit me best. No doubt others on here will point you in different directions, because we all have different shaped heads and we all view them differently. I found that the best bet was to get to a well stocked bike shop and try a load on.

For me, weight, ventilation and comfort come before the look, probably because I know that when I trudge out of my front door wearing bib-shorts and a racing fit jersey no-one is concerned with what I'm wearing on my head. Also, when I'm doing 20 - 30 mph I doubt anyone notices anyway.

I can relate to the mushroom head! I started with a Specialized Echelon which actually ended up being too small (I noticed this after 3 months riding!). I've just replaced it with a Boardman http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_271409 . I used my British Cycling membership to get a discount. Helmet looks and feels great and more importantly fits! Feels really snug and certainly doesnt feel like its sat on top of your head if that makes sense!??!

I suppose the stock answer is to say try some on but in my view Smidsy is right, I have one and the Kask Mojito is superb. Beautifully comfortable, well made and looks compact on the head. I have a big bonce so it's compact look is perfect. Some of the Giro's in particular look very 'Mushroomy'! The Lasers aren't too bad but I tried a Genesis on and the Mojito was by far more comfortable and better looking. I've had a Bell sweep which doesn't look too bad but Kask all the way fior me.

I have an S-Works Prevail - it's light and comfy, but I have to say it can look pretty odd from some angles.....

Looks pretty good, but what about the Kask Vertigo? Is that even better?!

I was looking at the Vertigo but for the extra dosh i could not justify it, if the Mojito is good enough for the Sky team, well its good enough for me.

No just more expensive. I tried about 20 lids including the Vertigo and the Mojito was easiest the best.

This above any item you buy is something you should go into a bike shop and try on. Regardless of cost, makle sure your lid fits comfortably. I would not take a risk on buying something like this. If you get a good comfortable fit , it will do you good service no matter what you buy so long as you buy from a UK shop.
