rear light to fit giant seat post

Postby andy 3654 » Tue Sep 18, 2012 08:49 am

Hello, yesterday I bought the Giant defy composite 2 and what a great bike it is however because of the seat post being not a round shape my rear light fixture wont fit on it.

Any suggestions of ones that will fit?

IIRC quite a number of cat eye rear lights have a flexible belt/band rather than a rigid fixing - just depends if the belt is long enough because I think the Giant seat post is triangular(ish) with a large circumference.

Id be interested to find out if you find something suitable. Ive just bought the exact same bike but not got as far as looking for a light to go on the seat post

Please post back when you find something suitable

As long as your lightset has a band/screw system and not a clamp fixture it'll be fine.

Cable tie and a cheap smart light works fine.

ive tried a few rear lights and so far the best i have found is the fibre flare from halfords or wiggle. Its the only one ive seen that even stands out in the day time.

I find the Smart R1 to be pretty good. Its the only branded light I would consider as I can't get anything similar from china.

moon shield has a stretchy strap that will fit round almost anything. probably too bright for group rides but very good on the commute.

Exposure flare and saddle rail kit - brilliant light and no need to use the seatpost at all :o)

I bought this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007 ... UTF8&psc=1
Its cateye own bracket that attaches to the saddle rather than the seat post, then all cateye lights fit to it as normal
