Carrera Vulcan 2012

Postby ol\'gregg » Sat Oct 06, 2012 10:41 am

Well after selling my Focus Black Forest build the beginning of August I was bikeless and bored. So decided to go back to basics and get a bike that my budget would cover and just start off getting back in the saddle and build up my fitness and confidence. So I opted for a Carrera Vulcan 2012 picked it up for £330 and added some lime green superstar grips and also purchased 2 cree LED torches for the dark evenings ahead for £15. Nothing else planned for it other than to dust off the waterproofs and get out and enjoy it :)

heh
ive got one of them and i find they are good bikes - although i would make sure that the screw in the derailieur is screwed in properly as in a crash the plastic looses the thread :(

You will know what i mean when you look at the derailauer - alright thats enough from me

On the plus side it is a very good bike :D

Nowt wrong with the lastest Vulcan, of course everything is down to a price, but when that price is £330 not the £500+ for a lesser specced Lardrock who cares!

If your upgrade bug bites, check the link in my sig, same frame as a 2006-2011 Vulcan.

I'm happy with it so far :) might have to invest in a slightly longer stem but nothing else for the time being then eventually new forks, tyres and pedals (when funds allow and when the others wear out) :)

Nice ride, the vulcan seems to have improved in spec since i had mine what with lockout forks and hydro discs as standard now.

Very nice for a starter bike enjoy :D

How are the XCM's ? Don't know anyone who has a good word for them. Maybe worth an upgrade?

The Damped XCM's work OK< but the seals are pants, its worth getting some thick grease behind them to protect the fork, red rubber grease works well.
