Recommend Me A Light 180mm Rotor Please

Postby Curious Yellow » Tue Oct 30, 2012 16:25 pm

Currently using some 180mm HS1s. These rotors will go on my lightweight but sensible wheelset which I'm building up. Already got a nice XT cassette for it but want to make it so that I don't have to faff around with swapping discs and adapters when I swap wheels. I'd use 160mm rotors, but that'll mean additional expense for mounting brackets.

Criteria:

- Weight not far off the 100g mark. Perhaps 125g including bolts? I think this is realistic. Superstar do some flame design jobs at 115g. Anyone have any experience of these please?
- Budget is around £30 in total, but I am not averse to buying 2nd hand. Is there anything better than the Superstars for the money?
- How much of a noticeable difference will floating rotors make? I am not heavy on the brakes or a heavy rider (under 67kg fully loaded).

All advice appreciated.

Floating rotors make no difference unless you are dragging the brake for long periods downhills.

Take a look at this:
