I ride a nn 2.25 evo up front and the snakeskin version out back after shredding a tyre on the beast at coed y brenin , great tyres loads of grip and light but not the strongest , snakeskin is good but a pricey £45 ish ......

I know NNs are well rated. I know a few people who ride with a NN up front and a Rocket Ron on the back.

I wouldn't recommend the Racing Ralphs. They're light, but pretty fragile. My new bike came with them, and I punctured 10 minutes into my first ride. They've been replaced with Conti Mountain King II.

Nobby up front copes well at Afan, wouldn't need a 2.4 myself. Nver tried the rear tyres you suggested but a rocket ron is good and heard it's simialr to the ralph but it's better in the wet. It certainly worked well for me last weekend at Afan in the wet.

Can get them cheaper than on that website too!

This :D

I run a minion / high roller pretty much all year unless it's an utter mud-fest (like now  ) when I run a trailraker / cinder.

I tried the nobby nick / racing ralph combo a few years ago and hated it - didn't suit me at all. No traction and made my bike feel far too skittish for my liking (although they were probably faster rolling). I know some people rave about them, but personally I wouldn't ride Afan or anywhere vaguely technical on them if you paid me!

+2. Fantastic combo on my Zesty.

I didn't get on with the Panaracers, sidewalls as thick as toilet paper.

Also this, for my DH and trail bike.
I also run wet screams when required but not required at trail centres.

Nobby nics are reasonable upto a point, the gatestar compound rails corners but its very pressure sensitive and can suffer abit on properly groomed trail centre stuff, get it out in the hills and it fairs much better.

I'll be putting some hans dampfs on my hardtail over winter to see how they go, could well end up with a hans dampf/NN combo for most of the year on both bikes if they dampfs live up to the hype.
