Garmin Courses on Turbo Trainer?

Postby daveyok » Sat Dec 01, 2012 11:48 am

Is it possible to create a course from a turbo session using a Garmin Edge 500 and then use it in the next session as a course - to race against a virtual partner?

I dont think it will work as the Garmin uses the GPS route to calculate speed etc so if you dont go anywhere you wont have a virtual partner or be able to race one.

Create a 'workout' with target speeds or distances or whatever so it shouts at you if you take it easy...

Not even using the speed/cadence unit on the back wheel?

No, courses are only useful when you are moving, and you should have the GPS switched off on the turbo. Just program some workouts based on speed, heart rate, power or cadence or follow a training video, such as Sufferfest.
