When to buy a bike?

Postby South Tyne Rider » Sat Dec 08, 2012 12:48 pm

Hi folks

Just looking for a bit of advice - I'm looking to get a Specialized Roubaix for £1500 in the coming months, March/April time and I'd love to save a bit of cash on it rather than spending that much. Does anyone know if there's a good time to get a bargain?

I haven't really seen many bikes go in the January sale, but does anyone know of any great 20% weekends off certain websites etc?

Not easy getting discounts on Specialized as they control their sales quite well via the Specialized Concept Stores.

But no harm in going in on the coldest, wettest January weekday you can find and asking for a discount.

When I got my SL4 Sworks frameset in October 2011, it was the only one in France for the next 3 months. So pointless trying to haggle on the price, but I did manage to get a £100 Spesh top thrown in....

Just buy it when you have the cash. Even if the deals are on now if you do not have the funds it's irrelevant.

Specialized Concept Stores did a 10% off sale last year after Christmas. Guess they be doing the same this time round?

I got 15% off a current model spesh at a concept store- purely because I walked in in December and they hadn't taken a bean all day. They said what would I need to buy the bike there and then and I said 15% off retail. And they said OK.

Concept stores arent owned by Spesh they are a franchise BTW
