Commute - Plumstead to Southall

Postby iainment » Thu Dec 13, 2012 11:23 am

Help.
Am moving back to London from Ireland and it looks like I'll be commuting from Plumstead to Southall.
Any route suggestions - I've been away for about 4 years and don't know what changes there have been to good commuting routes. Initially I'd probably cycle to Paddington and then train it.

Many thanks.

I'll give you the first part.

Woolwich road through Greenwich, down to Deptford Bridge, New Cross, pick up the A202 through Peckham, Camberwell across Vauxhall bridge.

Bus lanes most of the way but it will get very busy.

I'll leave the wild west part to someone else...

Chelsea Embankment, Finborough/Warwick Road to Hammersmith Road, King St, Chiswick Hi, A4 under elevated, Boston Road, Uxbridge Road.

But that is over 20 miles each way and quite busy roads, so I'd guess 75-90 mins each way. Cycle to Peckham & get the London Orbital round to Shepherds Bush maybe?

Quite a journey.
I don't think peckham to shepherds bush rail route is completed yet .... Maybe go peckham to clapham junction... But you probly can't get a bike on the train at rush hour
I use maps on Tfl.gov and London cycling campaign site to find new routes.
