Giant TCR Comp 2 or Cannondale Supersix Apex

Postby iandennis » Wed Jan 02, 2013 15:33 pm

I've decised to "Go Carbon" :)

Off to look at these two bikes tomorrow, I already have a Secteur Apex which i will be keeping as a summer commuter and occasional sportive and a Tricross for a winter commuter.

New purchase is for club riding and fast sunny days, it's a treat to myself but will be via C2W scheme plus top up.

Generally the view seems to be that the dale is the one to go for as it has a really good frame. Any reason not to pick the dale ? It's £100 more than the Giant.

How does Cannondale sizing compare to Specialised ? I'm a 56 on the secteur and the tricross so going to try a 54 and a 56.

Thanks

Ian

I ride a 56 in all my bikes and my Supersix is no different.

No reason to not get the Dale at all - excellent bike.

IME they do fit big so do not be surprised if you go down a size. Guess it depends on your proportions but a 56 will have a 56 seat tube and 56 top tube from memory.

Short legs and a long torso.

Inside leg is about 30inches but I manage fine with a 56cm. I'm 5'10 and a bit, guess 180cm.

Thanks, looking forward to testing out the supersix tomorrow. Glad both 54 and 56 available as I can try both before making decision.

Just checked and a 56 is 56 top tube and 54 seat tube. Standover of 80.1

I would say a 54 would be more your size that has a 54.5 top tube and 52 seat tube. Standover of 78.5.

I ride a 54 CAAD and am also 5' 10" with 30" inside leg.

Try em both

A 54 for me. I purchased a Supersix with 105 towards the end of the summer when the reductions started.
I'm 5'10" with a 30" inseam. The supersix is a great ride

I went for the Supersix Apex, due to glowing reviews for the frame :)

Only change I've made is fitting some Conti 'gp 4 seasons (25's). Rides really nice 8)

Bugger to clean though :|

Tried the Cannondale, very nice ride. Apex is what I have at the moment so no real difference. But now I have a problem, having spoken to work they will not allow me to top up the £1,000 cycle to work value. The dealer will have to show my "deposit" on the invoice so I'm out of luck. Whilst I really liked the cannondale it didn't set my heart racing. So back to the drawing board ?

Best carbon bike for £1,000 ? Pro Carbon and buy some decent wheels ?
