big fat lad - what bike

Postby gigeorge » Sat Jan 12, 2013 00:23 am

18 stoner, wanting to get back into the low teens stone range. Wanting a bike that'll go up but will be a blast downhill and will come with shocks and components that'll put up with my mass ...

Bikes thinking about - yeti sb66 or the the transition covert....

Sensible input welcome :)

If you are looking at Yetis, your budget is pretty big. Wouldn't worry about your current weight - I would expect most bikes to be able to cope. The only thing you may want to look at is a stronger wheel set if you are hitting big drops.

Most decent bikes will stand up to your weight when used as intended (so XC on an XC bike)....

Budget and a bit more detail on intended usage would help....
