Legs base layer.....confused

Postby Julesreece17 » Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:06 am

Hi gang,

Im considering buying a base layer for my legs, as i prefer cycling in shorts than i do in trousers. Im primeraly (however you spell it) looking for them to keep me a bit warmer, rather than be compression or whatever. Think id prefer the leggings style over the single leg warmers.

Anyone use any of these, or got any advice? Would the compression style ones still keep me a bit warmer? Is there a any advantage of the single leg warmers than the leggings style?

Any help would be appriciated.

Jules

Bib tights, end of (Planet X have some pretty good roubaix ones cheap).

To answer the other question though: the advantage of leg warmers is that they're easy to take on and off mid-ride and take up little space in a pack/pocket. So they're more of a Spring/Summer item where you're not really in need of full-on winter clothing but still want something in case it gets colder/warmer whilst out.

I'm confused... You want to wear shorts, so you're looking for tights?

Bibtights are definitely the way to go, far more comfy than anything with a waistband.

I have the Planet x Bibs and they are nice and cosy. I have a couple of decathlon fleeces too that ive been impressed with so id imagine their tights are decent for that money. Get ones without the padding. Then you can wear either your pants or better still some padded shorts and then your baggies on top to avoid frozen ars* cheek syndrome.
