Enigma Excellence

Postby senrab » Wed Feb 06, 2013 16:12 pm

Hi,
Below is link to pictures of my new ride. I have been enjoying reading posts for a while and finally have something to post. The brief was to produce a beautiful comfortable mile eater capable of getting me home which is always up hill, after over estimating how far I can ride. So comfy Columbus steel frame from Enigma rolling on 25mm Continental clinchers on bomb proof 32 hole Open Pros hand built on Royce hubs. With leg friendly Campagnolo Athena triple with Chorus 20:12 ratio cassette.
To head off question on MTB pedals on road bike, the lady indoors occasionally likes to ride out with me but insists on stopping some were interesting for a walk around and cake eating and I don’t like walking like a duck on ice and some people are fussy about cleats on their interesting floors.

Hi, Weather OK but banned from riding by doctor at moment just had 5 inch plate and hook removed from shoulder which I shattered last August was run off road by car during a Sportive, so it is now like Swiss cheese full of holes! Couple more weeks before I can ride again. Hope weather gets better soon for you.

Nice, I particularly approve of the shiny hubs. I'd humbly suggest that it would look better with matching stem and post - perhaps a silver post?

Hi All,
Ordered Ritchey Classic polished silver seat post originally, however turns out tracking one down in 34.9 diameter was going to be harder than getting a triple out of Campagnolo which I had been waiting since September on. So settled on Fizik Cyrano for time being.

That's lovely, that is. Looks much nicer than the ones they've displayed on their website. Just one question though;if it's a custom build, why the need for the spacers? Could you not have gone for a slightly longer HT? (Actually two questions; what's the paint colour called?)

Agree with the poster above, would look better with matching stem and post.

Hi All,

Thanks for kind comments.

Colour is Sironi red.

Regarding spacers the bike is fitted to me but I am still working on my fitness and ability so am hoping to lower stem in future. The other dilemma I have is that this is a life time bike and what fits now may not in future so when designing frame we built in some flexibility.

I am also recovering from injury broken color bone and ribs so may need to put stem up in short term hence top spacer. Once happy that I am fully recovered plan to trim off top of tube.

It actually looks ok with the silver spacers, I was just curious. There was another guy on here a while back with a custom Extensor and he had a silly amount of spacers on.

beautiful - looks like the ideal bike for a 'lifetime' bike.

I'm biased as I have 2 Enigmas and my Elite is the same colour and I just love it :D

Beautiful bike...
If I may, cut the steerer to length, once you find your optimum position
