changing from a double compact to standard double

Postby daffyavfc » Sat Feb 09, 2013 20:59 pm

Hi

I've got a 16 speed Compact double shimano 2300 crankset.
If I change to a standard 39/52 from my current 34/50 will I have to change the chain only?

thanks

You will also have to move the front mech up the seat tube as the chainset diameter is bigger.

Yes, I'm fine with basic bike mechanics but how do you work out the correct chain length?
Thanks

Shimano tech docs from their website. I mentioned the mech as your question did say only.

if the chain is worn you may also have to replace the cassette

as smidsy says, to set chain length and adjust front mech you'll find instructions here...
