Frame Opinions..

Postby Dawesy92 » Fri Mar 22, 2013 20:47 pm

Hi all,

Right looking for a little bit of information as regarding a new frame, been scanning around as i want to go down the 29er route, now im not the lightest of riders. So not sure on my choice, but one frame that i have seen and really like is the Planet X Dirty Harry, but my problem is according to the website, its a carbon frame, now as i said im not the lightest rider (95-100KG's) roughly last time i checked, so as harsh as i gonna sound, would i be to heavy for a carbon frame as its gonna be a trail/race bike and therefore would take some hits while riding..

Hope to hear back soon, OR failing that, other people ideas/opinions on other frames less than around £550 that are reasonably light :)

Hope to have some feedback soon :)

95-100kg's ain't heavy if you're a big framed - rugby type - chap. I'm no whippet but never once questioned if my body frame would be too much for any frame :D

The short answer is light Carbon frames (all carbon frames are light i guess) will be fine. The Dirty Harry is a great frame and you should have no probs with it.

Additionally, the more you ride the lighter you'll get, the faster you'll be.

It'll take the weight. Carbon is strong, remember.

Just wanted to check thats all as i know the carbon forks that i have on my day to day bike had a limit of appprently 95kg, but ive ran them pretty hard round the trails near me and they seem fine, so thanks for both your inputs i think that is now my frame decision sorted :D
