What bike pump?

Postby Macdory » Thu Apr 11, 2013 15:22 pm

Okay, I got my new bike today - put it all together and everything is great, except it only has one place to attach anything and I've put a water bottle holder there for days when I'm not using my Camelbak.

I used to have a pump with a fitting attached to my old bike, but there is no fitting spare for it on my new one.

So the question is, which bike pump would you recommend to carry and which saddle bag to go with it?

Also, it's the first time I've had air suspension so I've ordered a shock pump - would you also carry that with you or just leave at home and top up when needed?

At this rate, I'm going to need a support vehicle to run alongside me :p

http://www.lezyne.com/en/products/hand- ... lume#tab-2

comes with a fitting to go under the screws of your bottle cage sits tucked in the gap by the side of your bottle.

can do presta or shraeder by switching the pipe around. I think you can even get a mini gauge pipe for it too so you know what pressure you're getting to.

From previous topic about pumps one of the lezyne HV (high volume) pumps are highly recommended.
You don’t need to carry your shock pump with you. Maybe carry it with you only if you want to fine tune your forks as you ride.
Did you just want a saddle bag to carry the pump? If so as benjrush said it has a mounting bracket that fits under the water bottle so you can carry both

Is this the pump you are recommending? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/lez ... 8#features

If so, both small and medium are listed for the same price - which would you recommend?

Topeak Mountain Morph is an awesome mid-size (pack-size) pump

It works like a mini track pump. Very good.

I have this - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=37931 - I used a smaller pump before, but it would never properly inflate my tyres so went and got that - love it, and guys in the club I'm in like it too. I just stick it in my back pocket, and wouldn't bother carrying a shock pump, even if I was using my camelback.

just stick with your current pump and get some velcro (many other hook and loop alternatives available! ;-) ) straps made up and strap it under your top tube, used to do it that way whe i ran a saddle bag for shorter rides,
