Buying 2nd hand carbon

Postby scarbs85 » Mon May 27, 2013 21:43 pm

Hi,
Just after a quick bit of advice on buying a 2nd hand carbon bike. It would save a lot of money over buying new, but worried about ending up with a damaged frame. The bike says its only been ridden a few times, and reason for sale is return to road biking. Its a model from this year, so the guy cant have owned it long. It's a delivery though, it's too far away to go look at. Advise me please knowledgable people.

I guess buying unseen will always be a risk. Just a case of how risky it is.

If it's on Ebay, and you use Paypal, you should be ok.
Unless it's been left out in the rain, as I heard carbon melts if it gets wet. Might be a lie though.

No reason really to be any more (or less) worried about carbon than say ally.....this years is a help in that respect (warranty replacement perhaps?)
