Finishing Kit?

Postby bobones » Fri Jul 05, 2013 10:36 am

I'm thinking of buying a new carbon frame set and transferring the drive train and wheels from my current bike; however, the seat post on my current bike won't fit and I'll probably need to get a new stem and bars. Can anyone recommend a good looking and reasonably light, black finishing kit? I would prefer a carbon seat post, but I a lightweight alu one would do. Not looking for anything too mad looking, Thinking of Ritchey WCS, but what else should I consider? .

Deda is my personal fave finishing kit but I have a carbon Fizik seat post on my best bike and a carbon 3t post on my communter/winter/ashamed-to-be-seen-riding bike. I'd go for a carbon post as the flex makes them more comfy in my opinion. Although any post is more comfy with a saddle on.

All much of a muchness really, how much engineering gains can really be had from a tube of metal that you sit on or hold onto? Bar shape/dims are quite important though.

Carbon is obviously another option but the jury is out on bars particularly.

Just get what you like the look of at a good price.

IMO the differences between them are not going o make any real gain to your riding (assuming everything fits you).

Good point about the saddle :-) I'll actually need to buy a new one of those too as my white and green arione won't go too well with a black and red frame set. Both my current bikes (alu) have 27.2mm carbon seatposts so I fear going to a aluminium 31.6 will be a big drop in comfort.

I have the exact same thing between my 2 bikes and I really can not tell one jot of difference in seat post comfort.

IME save your cash.

I use 3T Team at the mo but given the choice I'd go for Ritchey WCS, I used this for years and couldn't fault it and then I swapped to 3T for a change, Ritchey was light and the finish was good, 3T looks good to start with but can easily start to look chatty and the 3T Doric seatposts don't have the best clamp in the world.
