.GPX File to Garmin

Postby bails1310 » Wed Jul 17, 2013 10:50 am

Struggling a bit, have downloaded a route in relation to a sportive I'm doing on Sunday, and has saved as a .gpx file.

I'm struggling a bit to now get it loaded onto my Garmin 200.

I've tried a manual upload of this onto Garmin Connect but am told 'Some activities could not be created' and is not visible.

I've also tried connecting the edge to my PC, right clicking on the .gpx file and 'Send to'. I can see the file there, but even when I've manually moved it to courses folder via my PC and is visibly there, when I select courses on the 200, it isn't?

Any suggestions welcome - the map to the sportive is here : http://www.mapmyride.com/gb/colwich-eng ... -221396853, not sure if anyone can save this onto Garmin Connect and make it public so I can grab it?

Many thanks.

Try this
How to install – Garmin Edge Devices
•Connect your Garmin GPS device to your computer
•Ensure your device has the latest software available
•Select the .gpx routes you would like (car parks or training)
•Click Copy/Save
•Browse to find the “NewFiles” folder on the Garmin drive, and click Save.
•Click Close, once downloaded
•Double-click the Unplug or Eject icon in your system tray. Click Stop, and then click OK
•Unplug the USB cable from your Garmin GPS device
•You will find the Routes in the Courses tabs on the device

I do one of two things.

One as above and navigate to the Garmin device and place into the new files folder.

To get it into Garmin connect i use the site gpsies.com and their convert tab. Here convert the file to a GPX track. Thsi should tehn upload to garmin connect as an activity and you can then save as a route.

The GPX file has not time data in it so connect objects converting it this way adds some.

Yeah ..... took me a while to get it. You must put it into 'newfiles' and not courses.
